1. Why We Built Preet
Most dating apps are designed to keep you scrolling, not to help you find someone meaningful. They prioritise engagement metrics over real outcomes. Preet was built with the opposite philosophy — every design decision, every feature, and every algorithm is focused on helping you find an authentic connection and, eventually, leave the app happily.
We are a team based in Nepal, building specifically for the social and cultural context of Nepali relationships. We understand the nuances, the concerns, and the expectations that global apps have consistently ignored.
2. Privacy as a Core Feature
Research across Nepal consistently showed that safety and privacy were the primary reasons people hesitated to use dating apps. We addressed this by building privacy controls directly into the product — not as afterthoughts, but as core features:
- Photo Blur: Your profile photos are blurred by default and only revealed once you match or like someone.
- Incognito Mode: Browse privately — other users' photos stay blurred until you match or like them.
- Ephemeral Media ("Peek"): Share real-time, short-lived photos and videos within a secure, non-saveable wrapper.
- Profile Verification: Mandatory verification helps ensure every person you interact with is a real, legitimate individual.
3. Careers at Preet
We are a small, focused team building something meaningful in Nepal. We are always looking for people who care deeply about product, privacy, and human connection — engineers, designers, community managers, and trust & safety specialists.
