Here's something we noticed: matches go quiet. You have a good first conversation, life gets in the way, and three weeks later neither of you knows how to pick it back up without it feeling weird. Nobody wants to send a random "hey!" into the void. So they just don't.
Moments is our answer to that. It's a private feed inside Preet — only your matches can see it — where you can post photos, voice notes, polls, or just a thought. When a match sees something you posted and reacts to it, that reaction goes straight into your chat with them. No new inbox, no extra steps. The conversation just picks back up, naturally.
What you can post
We kept it simple — four formats, nothing more.
Photos. Something from your day, a place you went, whatever made you smile. It doesn't have to be perfect. In fact, the less polished it is, the better. People respond to real things.
Voice notes. Our personal favourite. There's something about hearing someone's actual voice before you've met them — their energy, their humour, the way they laugh — that text just can't replicate. A thirty-second voice note does more than a dozen typed messages.
Polls. Ask your matches something. Tea or coffee. Would you rather. What do I do about this situation. Their vote shows up in your chat with them automatically, and suddenly there's a real conversation to have — without either of you having to manufacture one from scratch.
Text. A thought, a question, something you read, something you're thinking about. Sometimes you just want to say something.
How it works
Open Preet and head to the Chats tab. You'll see a Moments tab at the top — that's your feed. Scroll through what your matches have posted, react to anything that catches your eye, and tap the compose button to post your own.
When you post, your matches see it. When they react or comment, it lands directly in the conversation thread you already have with them. If that conversation has been sitting quiet for weeks, a reaction on your Moment is all it takes to bring it back to life — and neither person had to make an awkward first move.
It's private. Only your matches can see it.
This matters a lot to us. Moments is not a public feature. It's not visible to people browsing the app, people who liked you but haven't matched, or anyone else. Only people you've mutually matched with can see your feed — and you can only see theirs.
We built it this way because privacy changes how you post. When you know exactly who's watching, you post more honestly. You're not performing for an algorithm or a follower count. You're just sharing something with a small group of people who already have a connection with you.
If a match makes you uncomfortable — through what they post or how they react — you can block or report them directly from the Moment. Their posts disappear from your feed immediately. No waiting, no review process. You're in control.
What people are doing with it
Since we launched Moments, a few things have surprised us. People are using it to restart conversations more than we expected — someone posts a photo, a match they haven't spoken to in weeks comments on it, and suddenly they're making plans to meet up. The Moment was just the nudge they both needed.
Voice notes are getting more engagement than anything else. A few users have told us they post voice Moments specifically to give their matches a sense of their personality before agreeing to meet — a low-pressure introduction before the first date.
Polls are being used in ways we didn't fully predict. People post real dilemmas — "which photo should I use?", "should I take this job?", "what do I order?" — and use the replies as a way into conversations with matches who have strong opinions. It works really well.
A few tips
Don't overthink what you post. The people who get the most responses are the ones who post casually and honestly. A real question, a real place, something that actually happened to you today. The more real it feels, the more your matches want to respond.
Use voice notes when you want to break through. If you've been wanting to reconnect with someone but don't know what to say, record something instead of typing it. It's almost impossible not to respond to someone's actual voice.
And if you see something from a match that you like — react to it. Even a single emoji is enough to reopen a conversation that's been sitting quiet. You're not messaging out of nowhere. You're just responding to something they shared. It's the easiest first move on the app.
